Emily Fano (PS 166), Pamela French (PS 334), Lisa Maller (PS 334), Jennifer Prescott (PS 333), and Laura Sametz (PS 199), are the Composting Pilot Chairs. Eight New York City public schools housed in four buildings on Manhattan’s Upper West Side launched a composting pilot program on February 27, 2012 to divert food waste – including meat and dairy – kitchen scraps, and sugar cane food service trays from their cafeterias. Mayor Bloomberg acknowledges this composting pilot team in State of the City Address as he discussed plans for citywide expansion of school composting. July 2012 - the completion of a 1.26 megawatt solar array that will provide renewable energy to power Worton Elementary School, Kent County High School, Kent County High School Radio Transmitter, Kent County Community Center and Kent County Public Works Complex. The Worton Campus installation, with 5,380 panels, is the largest solar pv system on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
