I have washed my face with Clinique Liquid Facial Soap for years—and I mean years! It’s ranked 3 (moderate hazard) on the Cosmetics Safety Database and it’s priced at $16.50. I love this cleanser because it foams up just enough to make me feel like it's working, it smells light and clean and it leaves my face acne-free and healthy-looking. Therefore, I was skeptical (even a bit nervous) to test out the four brands below. After all, once a girl’s got a good cleanser that works, she doesn’t want to dabble (it's like finally finding the right man!). But the brand is a ‘non-signer’ of the Cosmetics Safety Database and the product has high concerns for allergies, so I thought it’s high time I test some other, more organic, safe cosmetics.

The last eighteen months or so have been an adventure of sorts: I stopped eating animals. I won’t say I stopped eating meat, because depending on whom you ask, this may only include red meat, maybe chicken, and probably not fish. Many people even call themselves vegetarians, but love a good piece or salmon or red snapper. Newsflash: fish have feelings too, and they were definitely once alive. If you eat fish, but not other animals, that makes you a pescatarian.
It’s that time of the year again; it’s hot, humid and hazy – the perfect environment for those pesky little mosquitoes, gnats and ticks! Five minutes outside in this weather and you’re already scratching and rubbing your irritated, red, newfound bumps. But before you pop open that bottle of bug spray in search of relief, you might want to read the label on your favorite bug repellent. What you find is inside might not be so relieving…|
